The alumni board supports the development, growth and ongoing education of the global Kogod community by working as an active liaison between the school, its graduates and the business community. The Kogod Alumni Chapter, whose members are active in global business and technology, serves 5,000 alumni in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and more than 15,000 around the world. Each year, the chapter sponsors a variety of events locally and regionally, such as professional development seminars, panel discussions, and networking events.
The Kogod Alumni Board helps promote lifelong relationships among all members of the Kogod community. It sponsors various activities to help foster a sense of community and loyalty to the University, renew the bonds that were first built on campus, and provide opportunities for lifelong learning. A signature event hosted every spring features a prominent business leader or personality addressing a current trend in business. Recent events have addressed the soft economy and the social networking phenomenon. In addition, smaller events throughout the year gather students and alumni together for networking receptions and speaker series, where AU graduates working as CEOs or in some other high-level capacity, come to campus to share their insights.
The alumni board works closely with the Kogod to provide programs that are consistent with the goals of the school. The board seeks to be inclusive, to represent all of its constituents, and to solicit diverse views and perspectives across the spectrum of the Kogod community and the business community in Washington D.C.
The board seeks to increase awareness of the Kogod School of Business both within Washington DC and across the country. To that end, it aims to increase participation in the events, programs, and volunteer opportunities it offers. All of the board’s efforts are designed to support the Kogod School of Business and American University as well as the alumni network. We value graduates for their insights, advice and help with recruiting as much as for their ongoing participation in our community.
