  • Christine Gettings is the Assistant Director of Global Learning and Leadership in the Center for Community Engagement and Service. In this capacity, she directs the Alternative Break program and other global community based learning experiences. She has designed and facilitated trainings on student activism, intercultural communication, and the role of reflection in service-learning. She has accompanied students to the Thailand-Burma border for an exposure trip on the Burmese democracy movement and to the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland with students to study peacebuilding. Christine has studied, lived, and worked in the DC area for over 17 years and has experience working in international women's development and environmental justice in the non-profit, advocacy sector and in higher education. She most recently served as the Assistant Director of the Kay Spiritual Life Center where she was responsible for human rights education and interfaith community building and dialogue.
