Fall Cohorts Begin the Week of September 19th, 2018

The Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce the offering of two cohorts of the Invest in Your Success program for Fall 2018. Invest in Your Success is a non-credit professional development program developed specifically for American University’s students. This program maximizes students’ success by teaching the core technology skills needed to thrive in an office environment. Students complete a series of courses designed to enhance their skills, build technological confidence, and increase their value to potential employers.

The Invest in Your Success curriculum focuses on safe computing, collaboration and teamwork, and practical applications of technology to the work environment. Participants must attend an orientation session and complete four course offerings. Courses include:

Collaborating with Office 365
Creating Professional Documents with MS Word 2016
Essential MS Excel 2016 Skills
Adobe Photoshop Basics.

September 19th - Mandatory Orientation, 3:00pm - 4:00pm
September 26th - Collaborating with Office 365, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
October 3rd - Creating Professional Documents with MS Word 2016, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
October 10th - Essential MS Excel 2016 Skills, 3:00pm - 4:30pm
October 17th - Adobe Photoshop Basics, 3:00pm - 4:30pm

Fatmata Kamara

Fatmata Kamara (SOC), enrolled in the program to gain essential Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word, and thinks that the program will provide an advantage both in her campus job and when applying for internships.

Aisling McGinley

Aisling McGinley (dual SPA/SOC), wanted to learn about Windows and Microsoft's role in the workplace, especially since she is an Apple user.
