Why Earn Your Elementary Education MAT at Baker

Grounded in AU's mission of equity, community, diversity, and excellence, this concentration prepares you to build classrooms where every student — regardless of background or learning needs — feels seen and supported. You'll blend theory and pedagogy with applied skills to maximize learning outcomes across public, charter, parochial, and private elementary settings.

  • No teaching background required. Career changers are welcome. Elementary Education applicants complete a transcript review to confirm a broad foundation across core subjects (math, science, English/language arts, and social studies); any gaps can be addressed with supplemental learning along the way.
  • Cohort-based learning. Progress through your courses alongside the same peers, building a sustained community of support.
  • Dedicated academic support. Guidance from application through graduation, including a university coach during your field placements.
  • Strong outcomes. Graduates see a 100% placement rate in the workforce within six months.
