Bio
Anne O’Dell empowers people to make a better quality of life through the arts. As Regional Director of Events and Public Space Activations in Alexandria VA’s Office of the Arts, she strengthens and builds the social fabric of Alexandria by leading a team overseeing special event permitting, producing City events, and activating public spaces through programs including the Mobile Art Lab. Anne previously worked as Programs Manager at Arlington County Cultural Affairs where she restructured the Arlington Arts Grants Program, developed and managed The Arts Meet!, Arts Enterprise Institute, and Arts Lab, led Arlington’s participation in the AEP5, supported the launch of the Arlington Art Truck, and supported interdepartmental initiatives. Areas of specialization include cultural planning, community cultural development, project management, research, program theory and evaluation, grant-making, and grant administration. Anne completed a Master of Art, Arts Management at the University of Oregon in 2015, where she was a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Oregon’s School of Music and Dance. Prior to her work there, she completed a Master of Music with a concentration in vocal performance at George Mason University in 2008. After earning her Master of Music, she managed major international projects at George Mason University’s Center for Global Studies for over four years. A native Appalachian, Anne believes everyone should be able to participate in and express themselves through arts and culture. She is committed to making the arts accessible to everyone by transforming visionary ideas into meaningful experiences for the community.
