Welcome to American University's Phonathon Program!

The Phonathon Program is an essential initiative within the Office of Annual Giving, connecting students with alumni, parents, and donors to strengthen the AU community. Our dedicated team of student fundraisers plays a key role in fostering relationships and building a culture of philanthropy that supports the university’s growth and success.

Through the Phonathon Program, we:

  • Establish meaningful connections by engaging with AU’s extensive network of supporters.
  • Maintain accurate contact information to ensure seamless communication between the university and its community.
  • Secure essential funds that directly contribute to AU’s mission, enhance academic programs, and enrich the student experience.

Our student Fundraisers serve as ambassadors of AU’s values while gaining invaluable hands-on experience in professional communication, fundraising strategies, and relationship-building. Each conversation is an opportunity to engage with AU supporters, reinforce their connection to the university, and contribute to the institution’s long-term success. By participating in Phonathon, students develop essential skills that will benefit them in their future careers while making a meaningful impact on the university that shapes tomorrow’s leaders.

Alumni Involvement & Phonathon Impact

Alumni involvement is crucial to the continued success of American University. Contributions from alumni help support bright students, distinguished faculty, and impactful research that drives innovation, generates new knowledge, and transforms lives.

Phonathon employees play a vital role in securing these contributions while serving as representatives of the university. Student Fundraisers have a unique opportunity to form meaningful connections within the AU community, gain insight into life after graduation, refine their communication skills, and leave a lasting impact on AU. Beyond securing vital funding, this role fosters a culture of giving and engagement that strengthens the AU network for future generations.
