Grit and Grace: The Fight for the American Dream

What: A special screening of Grit and Grace: The Fight for the American Dream, narrated by Emmy Award winner Sarah Jessica Parker and produced by the House Select Committee on Economic Disparity and Fairness in Growth. The screening will be followed by a discussion with Chairman Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT), film director Dr. Oscar Guerra, and broadcast journalist Kevin Cirilli. The discussion will be moderated by Dean Vicky Wilkins of American University's School of Public Affairs.

When: Wednesday, December 14, 2022, 6:30 pm

Where: American University’s Greenberg Theatre, 4200 Wisconsin Ave. NW, Washington D.C. 

Background: The documentary shares powerful stories from across the U.S. and explores what it means to find economic security in America and the diverse paths people take to get there. While the families featured in the documentary represent different backgrounds, perspectives, and political leanings, all of them share the same dream of financial stability, as well as powerful stories of dignity, struggle, hope, and resolve.
