OIT staffers at the Illuminate Workday TourOn May 19, American University welcomed the Workday Illuminate Tour, a regional event that brought together higher education professionals and technology leaders from across DC, Maryland, and Virginia to explore how institutions are using Workday.

Members of AU’s Workday Platform and Workday Student project teams participated alongside the DMV Workday Regional User Group, exchanging ideas and gaining insights from peer institutions navigating similar transitions.

A highlight of the day was Workday’s mobile experience center, which offered hands-on demonstrations of tools currently in use or on the horizon—including AI-supported features and self-service capabilities. These conversations help inform AU’s own rollout of Workday Student, the new student information system that will replace legacy tools like Eagle Service, Colleague, and CRM Advise by 2027.

The future system is expected to improve support for students, faculty, and staff through: mobile access and self-service functionality, simplified course planning and academic progress tracking, enhanced analytics for data-informed decision-making, and a seamless student experience from academic planning through registration

Events like this provide AU’s implementation teams with real-world perspectives as we take a significant step forward in the university’s commitment to innovation and student success through advanced technology solutions.
