Capturing Colorful Leaves and Festive Fall Fun
More than 100 Eagles and friends laced up their sneakers for the inaugural AU-Airlie 5K Fun Run Race and Fall Festival on November 11.
Among those who enjoyed the race, food, live music, hayrides, lawn games, and more were four first-year students from School of Communication professor Sarah Menke-Fish’s Visual Literacy course—Sam Jaffe, CAS-SOC/BA ’27; David Gay, SOC/BA ’27; Soni Laughlin, SOC/BA '27; and Emily Jean-Mary, SOC/BA '27—who captured photos of the day’s festivities. The eagle-eyed students compiled their favorite shots into a short video created by classmate Lauren Gersten, SOC-SPA/BA ’26, highlighting the picturesque autumn day at the Warrenton, Virginia property.
This marks the second time Menke-Fish’s students—who are creating a brand strategy for Airlie that includes visual storytelling for social media and the web—trained their lenses on the pastoral property. Earlier this semester, they spliced their photos from a September field trip to Airlie into a 60-second digital postcard.
