Bio
Michael Messersmith is a partner and managing director at Walker-Leggett Capital Management, an event-driven hedge fund and private equity firm. Professor Messersmith practiced corporate law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York City and Kirkland & Ellis in Washington, D.C. He served as senior vice president and deputy general counsel at American Capital, a global private equity firm with over $100 billion in assets under management. Professor Messersmith’s practice has focused on mergers & acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, joint ventures and strategic alliances, venture capital, corporate finance, high yield bond offerings, leveraged finance, and the formation and operation of private equity and hedge funds. Mr. Messersmith received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center. Prior to Georgetown Law, he received his degree in comparative literature and classical languages from Harvard University. He has also taught at Georgetown Law and Harvard.
