Bio
As the Director of Strategic Communications, Ciara leads the communications and marketing initiatives for Academic Affairs and the Office of the Provost. This includes developing communications strategies, overseeing the production of all materials including video, print (collateral materials), email newsletters, internal communications, and others. Ciara also manages and directs social media content and strategy, and works closely with the Web Manager and University Communications and Marketing on the websites under the Office of the Provost. Additionally, Ciara serves as a liaison across campus and within the Academic Affairs division, working with marketing, media relations, communications, publications, and information technology colleagues to coordinate resources and ensure compliance with campus wide efforts.
Prior to joining American University in September 2017, Ciara led a small team at a marketing and public relations agency in Maryland, where she developed and implemented marketing, public relations, and communications strategies for various CEOs in the DMV area. She has ghost-written articles for several trade publications, and led branding workshops for companies in numerous industries.
