Bio
Jacob Wilson (he/him) joined AU’s office of First Year Advising in August 2023 and has enjoyed teaching, advising, and empowering first year students ever since. Jacob brings over a decade of varied experience in higher education, nonprofit management, leadership and social justice education, experiential learning, and democratic engagement to his role as an AUx Instructor & Advisor.

In addition to his role in FYA, Jacob co-founded the AU Votes initiative in 2022, a collaborative effort between staff, faculty, and students to register, educate, and empower AU students to vote in local, state, and national elections. His efforts were recognized in May 2023 when he received the “Award for Outstanding Collaboration” during the annual academic advising awards and in June 2023 when he and the AU Votes coalition received AU’s “Staff & Faculty Collaboration Award” for the 2022-23 academic year.

Jacob and his partner live in the Park View neighborhood of Washington, DC, with their two pups. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, exploring DC restaurants, sharing DC’s vibrant history and culture with visiting friends and family, trivia, and living in the new golden age of television. Jacob is also the founder and a current executive board member of the Missouri Courage Scholarship, which acknowledges, affirms, and rewards the courage of college-bound LGBTQ+ students from his home state.
