Bio
Khouri Lassiter (they/them) serves as the primary resource person for information and advocacy related to LGBTQ+ communities at American University. Prior to joining AU, they worked with LGBTQ+ and youth-led organizations like the Victory Institute, Advocates for Youth, and Healthy Teen Network. They have been a member of multiple movement organizations like the Poor People’s Campaign and the Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100) leading issue-based campaigns and policy-driven initiatives to create sustainable and safe environments for the community.

A lot of Khouri’s work has been based on their firsthand experiences of being a Black, Queer, Trans, and Non-binary person (and the lived experiences of their communities). They enjoy finding creative ways in which we can reimagine the world that was given to us by developing strategies and initiatives for historically marginalized populations to transform and thrive. The majority of Khouri’s work has been focused on empowering and supporting queer, trans, and gender-expansive youth through programs, advocacy, and political education efforts. They love to help students with their personal and professional development!

Khouri is a proud PG County native! In their spare time, Khouri loves to read and curate new playlists depending on whatever mood they are in. Khouri is a big foodie and loves to try new restaurants and is also an abortion doula!
