Bio
Martinique A. Sealy, Ph.D. is a postdoctoral researcher for the NSF Black EpiSTEMologies Research Grant in the Center for Teaching, Research, & Learning at American University.

Dr. Sealy is a VCU Holmes Scholar alum and mentor and an APA Division 15 Early Career Educational Psychology (ECEP) Co-Chair. She was AERA Division C Graduate Co-Chair from 2021-2023.

Her current mixed methods research focuses on how to incorporate Historically Marginalized, particularly Black, students’ funds of knowledge such as identity, culture, and language into asset-based classroom contexts to foster academic achievement. She has seven publications and has participated with multiple NSF and IES grant funded projects. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Washington DC Metropolitain area.
