MA, Public History from American University

Jordan Grant is a candidate for the Ph.D. in U.S. history at American University. His research focuses on the entwined histories of slavery and the state, and his dissertation, "Catchers and Kidnappers: Slave Hunting in Early America" traces how slave-catching shaped Americans’ understanding of race, violence, and governance. Outside of the academy, Jordan is an assistant for the New Media department at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History, where he manages the digital outreach for the American Enterprise exhibition and other related projects.
