Bio
Mladen Petkov (mluh-DEN' peht-KOFF') is a PhD graduate at the School of Communication. His dissertation focuses on journalistic roles and intervention practices that push back against media oppression in Eastern Europe. Mladen has several years of newsroom experience in the United States and Bulgaria. As a U.S. correspondent for Bulgarian National Radio Mladen has been telling stories about various communities around the U.S., reporting from the White House, and producing special programs on election campaigns, social justice, press freedom, and jazz music. Mladen is a Visiting Assistant Professor at University or Mary Washington and a lecturer at Johns Hopkins University's Krieger School of Arts & Sciences.
