Marcela is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Center for Latin American and Latino Studies and a second-year PhD student at the School of Public Affairs.
Her research interests include Indigenous Movements in the Amazon Basin, Politics of Identity and Legal Strategies to produce social change, and Domestic Policy regarding social conflicts and Indigenous Rights in South America
She has received grants from the Tinker Foundation, the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique from France.
