Avalon Theatre and American University Washington DC High School Film Fest
The Washington D.C. High School Film Festival is for DC Public and Charter school students in grades 9 through 12.
The films will be 1 to 5 minutes in length. The categories for the festival are:
- Short Documentary
- Short Scripted Film
- Environmental Short
- Animated Short
Film submissions will begin on March 1st through Film Freeway and the submission deadline is January 28th, 2022. You can submit here.
The festival premiere will be March 3, 2022 at 7 p.m. at the Avalon Theatre. The top 5 films in each category will be shown and awards will be given to the top films in each category. Other awards will be given throughout the evening and may be from films not in the top categories.
There will be prizes alongside awards the top overall film will get a grand prize. All student filmmakers in attendance will be entered into an a prize drawing on the day of the festival.
