Erica Diya Basu is an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Communication's Public Communication Division. Erica has over two decades of experience as a seasoned communication professional in strategic, marketing and corporate communication, public diplomacy, and public affairs. She is a Ph.D candidate at American University’s School of Communication and a doctoral fellow at the Internet Governance Lab. Her research interests converge at the intersection of Internet governance, public diplomacy, and strategic communication studies. She is currently working towards her PhD dissertation examining the role of civil society organizations in shaping privacy discourse and influencing data protection policy-making in India. She holds a master’s degree in Strategic Communication from American University’s School of Communication and a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from the College of Wooster.
