Matthew Herrmann is a proud alumnus of American University. He currently serves as Senior Advisor at the Roosevelt Group representing a wide range of clients on Congressional appropriations and authorization matters, federal budget process, strategic planning, strategic communications, Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Indo-Asia-Pacific policy matters.
Matt joined the Roosevelt Group after over 10 years of service on Capitol Hill serving in a variety of roles. Most recently he served as Chief of Staff to the Ranking Member of the Readiness Subcommittee of the House Armed Services Committee. As Chief of Staff he served as primary policy and political advisor. Matt has extensive background on the House Armed Services Committee and the annual defense authorization bill. He has developed comprehensive legislative strategies for a variety of important initiatives and secured millions in federal funding. He has a reputation of working in a bi-partisan and collaborative matter to accomplish strategic goals. He also supported the Air Force Caucus and was a lead staffer in the development of the Long Range Strike Caucus. Matt also has extensive background in policy issues impacting the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. He participated in public forums with CSIS, Banyan Analytics and the Singapore International Foundation to discuss the importance of the U.S. rebalance strategy.
Prior to joining the Office of Congresswoman Bordallo, he served as Executive Officer for the National Guard Bureau's Office of Legislative Liaison where he provides counsel to senior National Guard leaders on legislative matters.
Matt also serves as an adjunct faculty member at American University teaching a course he developed entitled "Politics & Policy in the Digital Age". The course gives students a unique, 'real world' look at how technology is impacting the entire American political system from Congress to Interest Groups to Executive branch agencies.
Matt, his wife, son and daughter currently reside in Potomac, Maryland.
