Kentucky

Kentucky is a 2-day exam with six 30-minute Kentucky Essay Exam questions, six 30-minute Multistate Essay Exam questions, and 200 multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam questions. Effective July 2019, may also include items from the Multistate Performance Test (MPT).

MBE Subjects: Constitutional Law, Contracts/Sales, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, Federal Civil Procedure, Real Property, Torts.

Kentucky Essay Subjects: Business Associations (Agency and Partnership; Corporations and Limited Liability Companies), Civil Procedure, Constitutional Law, Conflict of Laws, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence, Family Law, Property (Personal and/or Real), Sales, Secured Transactions, Torts, Trusts and Estates (Decedents' Estates; Trusts and Future Interests), Wills.

MPRE: A scaled score of 80 on the MPRE is required for admission.

Scoring: Applicants must achieve a scaled score of at least 135 on the MBE and at least 75% on the essay portion.

Filing Deadlines: The deadline for applying to the February Bar Exam is October 1; late applications are accepted until November 10; extended late applications are accepted until December 10. The deadline for applying to the July Bar Exam is February 1; late applications are accepted until March 10; extended late applications are accepted until May 10.

Fees: Bar exam application fee: $875. Late bar exam application fee: $250. Extended late bar application fee: $450.
