New Mexico is a 2-day Uniform Bar Exam (UBE) with two 90-minute Multistate Performance Test questions, six 30-minute Multistate Essay Exam questions, and 200 multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam questions.
MBE Subjects: Constitutional Law, Contracts/Sales, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, Federal Civil Procedure, Real Property, Torts
MEE: Business Associations (Agency and Partnership; Corporations and Limited Liability Companies), Conflict of Laws, Family Law, Trusts and Estates (Decedents’ Estates, Trusts and Future Interests), Article 9 (Secured Transactions) of the Uniform Commercial Code plus all MBE subjects
Multistate Performance Test: "Closed universe" practical questions using instructions, factual data, cases, statutes and other reference material supplied by the examiner.
MPRE: A scaled score of 80 is required for admission.
Scoring: The MEE and MPT scores are scaled to the MBE with the MBE weighted 50%, the MEE weighted 30%, and the MPT weighted 20%. The scaled scores are combined to determine if the applicant has achieved a passing score of 260.
Filing Deadlines: Filing deadlines for the February 2020 bar exam is September 20th at 5pm. The late application deadline is December 3rd at 5pm. The Filing deadline for the July 2020 bar exam is January 20th at 5pm and the late application deadline is May 4th at 5pm.
Fees: Bar exam application fee: $500 (applications within one year of law school graduation), $1000 (all others). Late fee : $200. Extended late fee: $500.
