North Dakota

North Dakota is a 2-day Uniform Bar Exam with two 90-minute Multistate Performance Test questions, six 30-minute Multistate Essay Exam questions, and 200 multiple-choice Multistate Bar Exam questions.

MBE Subjects: Constitutional Law, Contracts/Sales, Criminal Law/Procedure, Evidence, Federal Civil Procedure, Real Property, Torts

MEE: Business Associations (Agency and Partnership; Corporations and Limited Liability Companies), Conflict of Laws, Family Law, Trusts and Estates (Decedents’ Estates, Trusts and Future Interests), Article 9 (Secured Transactions) of the Uniform Commercial Code plus all MBE subjects

Multistate Performance Test: "Closed universe" practical questions using instructions, factual data, cases, statutes and other reference material supplied by examiners.

MPRE: A scaled score of 85 is required for admission.

Scoring: The MEE and MPT scores are scaled to the MBE with the MBE weighted 50%, the MEE weighted 30%, and the MPT weighted 20%. The scaled scores are combined to determine if the applicant has achieved a passing score of 260.

Filing Deadlines: The deadline for applying to the February Bar Exam is November 1; late applications accepted until November 15; extend late applications accepted until December 1. The deadline for applying to the July Bar Exam is March 15; late applications accepted until April 15; extended late applications accepted until May 15. Law student registration is required.

Fees: Bar exam application fee: $150. Late fee: $100. Extended late fee: $150
