WCL Abroad

WCL Abroad serves as the touchstone for JD students regarding the internationalization of their legal education. Through our semester exchange, dual degree, and summer abroad programs, WCL Abroad offers an exciting and diverse variety of cultural experiences, legal settings, and academic focus areas. In fact, about half of our students earn academic credit from a legal experience outside of the United States. Students earn credits in one of our more than 30 programs abroad in over 20 countries on four continents.

Study Abroad Programs

International Dual Degree Programs The International Dual Degree Programs allow a select number of students to obtain a JD from WCL in Washington, DC and a JD-equivalent or LLM degree from Australia, Canada, France, Italy, or Spain.

Semester Abroad Programs These programs offer students a global perspective of the legal profession as they immersed in a different socio-legal culture. Students may have opportunities to gain work experience abroad, develop the language skills required to be effective lawyers at home and abroad and learn about the law as well as how to interact with global and transnational actors.

Summer Abroad Programs Choose to participate in any of our three summer abroad programs to learn from local faculty, network with international practitioners, visit legal establishments in other countries and gain a new perspective on the law and legal system.
