AU Central brings together in a centralized location many of the student services provided by the Offices of the Registrar, Financial Aid and Student Accounts. Visit AU Central in the Asbury Building, South Wing, Room 201, to meet with one of our cross-trained student services counselors to discuss your financial and registration related questions.

AU Central is open for business on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00AM - 5:00PM and Wednesday 10:00AM - 5:00PM. You may also email us at aucentral@american.edu or call us at 202.885.8000.

Effective October 1, the university’s front-line cashiering operations were officially closed. With this change, student account payments can be made either by e-check through the student portal, or by mailing a check with the student’s AU ID number to:

Checks can also be dropped off at AU Central, where they will be mailed directly to our Baltimore address for processing (envelopes with our Baltimore payment address can be obtained in AU Central).

When are Financial Aid Refunds Processed?

For students that will have a credit on their account due to financial aid, refunds will begin to be processed Wednesday, January 18. You may sign up for your refund, and choose to receive it electronically into your bank account, by following the instructions here: http://www.american.edu/finance/studentaccounts/refund-request.cfm
