The New Leader Program (NLP) is designed to prepare accomplished functional leaders to assume new leadership responsibilities. The Experienced Leader Program (ELP) is designed to transform proven leaders into global executives ready for the highest roles. This program encourages self-assessment and reflection, enhances participants' capacity to think strategically and lead effectively, and helps participants formulate a proactive, strategy for driving results.
Diagnosis of the Leadership Self challenges participants to develop and learn how to leverage their emotional and social intelligence to enhance their abilities in managing conflict for positive results, coaching and mentoring those they lead, influencing others, inspiring others, building consensus, and fostering teamwork in pursuit of agency goals.
Transforming from Managing to Leading addresses the unique balance of leader/member exchange, personality, and leadership burnout. Leadership competencies in the public context are presented and discussed, along with significant exposure to the impact of politics, power, and culture on today's leader.
It Begins with You A primary focus of development is for leaders to become skilled at leading themselves. Accordingly, emphasis in this course will be placed on the importance of self-reflection and leadership “from the inside out” as a basis for becoming a force for personal and organizational change. Discussion topics will include: 1) The leaders we need today—those with self-awareness, emotional and social intelligence, and a “smart power” perspective, 2) Self-development as a lifelong journey that starts with you—including “modeling the behavior you seek,” and 3) The importance of engagement, presence, and authenticity in building collaborative relationships, and 4) The role of trust, perceptions, beliefs, and assumptions.
Developing Leaders for a Complex World is designed to enable the managers and leaders to develop and execute strategy to fulfill their organizational purpose. The key learning components of the program are designed to: 1) heighten awareness of critical, inner, personal beliefs and values, 2) develop interpersonal abilities to influence and engage others, and 3) learn executive decision making and problem solving skills and the critical steps for building a connected, collective, leadership culture.
Leading in a VUCA World (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) This session addresses the dynamic context of leadership and the "meta" skillset that 21st century leaders need to be effective in an unpredictable environment with multiple and interdependent stakeholders. This brave new world requires leaders to exercise emotional and social intelligence, build trust, rely on indirect influence, connect authentically, develop complexity thinking, and lead "emergence."
Resilient Leadership in Difficult Times includes powerful and transformative exercises to develop emotional intelligence and the capacity for resilience. The session covers what it takes to be a resilient leader and how good leaders manage the pressures of their roles through mindfulness, compassion, and renewal.
Strategic Human Resource Management Courses:
Strategic Human Resource Management examines how executives exercise discretion in the application of human resource policy to enhance organizational effectiveness. Subjects covered include labor/management relations, merit-based staffing, performance management, employee selection, EEO, employee relations, and other workplace issues.

Creating Questioning Cultures Questions are at the core of how we listen, behave, think, and relate--as individuals and organizations. Virtually everything we think and do is generated by questions. Questions push us into new territories. The future begins with our thinking, represented by the questions we ask ourselves. This session shows participants how to consistently choose the questions that can lead them to success, both personally and professionally. The technique, called "question thinking," stimulates innovation, accelerates productivity, and creates more rewarding relationships.
Leading Organizational Change for Results expands awareness, strengthens skills, and integrates into participants' experience useful concepts and practical tools so that students are more able to initiate and lead a successful change effort for results. Participants will: assess change readiness and set the stage for a successful change effort, taking into account the human dimensions of transition; increase understanding of self and others' behavior styles as they relate to change; understand the stages of the change cycle; anticipate and move beyond resistance; examine the role of systems-thinking, mind-body relationship, and state of mind when leading change efforts; and strengthen skills in conducting productive conversation, making agreements, and ensuring accountability.
Organizational Analysis will examine concepts and theories that explain organizations and organizational behavior including factors such as the nature of the political environment, organizational structure, staffing, information management and budgetary constraints. The impact of these factors is explored in the context of policy development and implementation.
