Future Teacher Tutors Frequently Asked Questions
AU's Baker School of Education (Baker) and CityTutor DC partnered to bring high-impact tutoring to DC school students. Baker students provide weekly tutoring to kindergarten through high-school students throughout the District of Columbia. Baker continues to expand the AU Future Teacher Tutors program.
Partner schools have included Perry Street Preparatory Public Charter School, the Langley Elementary School, the Sousa Middle School, and the Francis L. Cardozo Education Campus. Baker continues to expand the AU Future Teacher Tutors program.
Tutors receive a stipend for transportation to make getting to an in-person tutoring site possible.
CityTutor DC is a coalition of more than 50 schools, community-based organizations, civic partners, and other stakeholders committed to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on student achievement and well-being by dramatically expanding access to high-impact tutoring in the nation's capital. CityTutor DC continues to partner with organizations to expand opportunities for more District of Columbia students to receive high-impact tutoring—a research-backed practice that involves frequent, consistent small-group or one-on-one sessions between a trained tutor and a student to supplement classroom learning.
