Hotels
Multiple hotels in the neighborhood of American University offer a negotiated special rate to IWSM participants. We are negotiating the discounted rate to cover both weekends before and after the conference, for you to stay longer and explore Washington DC. A link for reservations will be created.
A budget option: a block of suite-style rooms is reserved for us on campus. Information is below.
On-Campus Lodging
On-campus lodging for the IWSM will be located on American University’s new East Campus, in Constitution Hall, the same building as the conference. This residence hall has single- and double-occupancy rooms with full bathrooms en suite.
Guests will have access to laundry facilities, floor lounges, equipped with a kitchenette and television, as well as our three campus fitness centers. All conference guests will have access to our AU shuttle service and free Wi-Fi network, AUGuest-ByRCN.
Rooms will come made up with two flat bedsheets, one pillow with pillow case, one blanket and one towel. Being mindful of American University’s Carbon Neutrality, please note that we do not provide travel-sized soaps in the rooms. The Federal Hall front desk will always be staffed should guests have any questions.
Rates
(may change between now and 2026, but not dramatically)
Single-occupancy rooms are $91/person/night.
Double-occupancy rooms are $74/person/night. If you opt to stay in a double-occupancy room, you will be staying with another IWSM attendee. Requests for roommates need to be submitted in writing by both guests to University Conference & Guest Services at conferences@american.edu at least 7 days prior to your check-in date. We will work to accommodate all requests submitted by the deadline.
Rates do not include the mandatory D.C. Hotel Tax of 14.95%.
Registration Process
Conference participants can register for conference lodging through our Conference Lodging Portal (the link to be available soon).
Each overnight guest needs a unique login and email; therefore, you cannot register more than one guest under a login. If you wish to room with another conference participant who will be staying on-campus, both guests must submit this request in writing to University Conference & Guest Services at conferences@american.edu at least seven (7) days prior to your check-in date. We will work to accommodate all requests submitted by the deadline.
Only credit card payments made through the online portal will be accepted. Full payment is required at the time of registration. Your registration can only be confirmed once payment is received. Once payment is received, your reservation is non-transferable.
Charges will not be prorated for late arrivals and early departures.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellations must be received in writing at conferences@american.edu no less than fourteen (14) days prior to the requested check-in date.
