Meltzer Center Construction To Begin Monday, March 11 March 8, 2024
On Monday, March 11, 2024, construction work will begin at the future site of the Alan and Amy Meltzer Center for Athletic Performance to install the new geothermal well field system that will serve the building. Please see the updates below:
- Construction Activity
- Multiple drilling rigs and other supporting equipment will be operating on the site during the work.
- Construction Schedule
- The normal construction work week is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Work may also be conducted on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., but only if needed to maintain the project schedule. No construction activity will occur on Sundays.
- AU will make good faith efforts to limit the noisiest and most disruptive work to between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays.
- This portion of the project is anticipated to be completed mid-to-late May 2024.
All appropriate safety and other control measures will be in place during the work.
As a reminder, the neighborhood access gate located at the intersection of University Avenue and Rodman Street, NW is closed to prevent access to the construction area. Community members can still utilize the gate at the intersection of University Avenue and Quebec Street to access campus.
