It's time for our annual Staff Appreciation Week! It's an opportunity to thank our amazing staff and celebrate together with our favorite in-person and virtual events that focus on fun and self-care. This year's celebration reflects our new hybrid way of working.

Participate in any of the week's activities to be entered in a raffle to win a delicious fruit basket courtesy of AhealthyU and Kaiser Permanente. We'll be raffling one fruit basket per event*.

*Event prizes subject to change. Cupcake Bake-off, Volleyball Tournament on the sand courts, and StaffCon 2022 Virtual Trivia events are not eligible for the fruit basket raffle.

Thanks for your hard work over the past year. The Office of Human Resources is providing a complimentary food truck lunch to all staff members during Staff Appreciation Week. Lunch orders should have been ordered in advance.

Although staff only receive one meal for the week, you are welcome to join the picnic activities each day. 

To pick up your order:

Pick up your food order on your pre-selected date and location. Please have your AU ID ready.

  • Main campus - Quad (Monday and Wednesday)
    • Check in with our volunteers.
    • Wait in line at the food truck you selected on the pre-order form.
    • A food truck representative will confirm your order and ask if you have any customizations or dietary requests.
  • Other campus locations (Tuesday) - Connecticut Avenue - Lower Level, Spring Valley - Room 618, WCL - Faculty Lounge.
    • Check in with our volunteers.
    • Receive your pre-ordered lunch.
    • Customizations are not available; you must have made any special requests in advance.

Once you receive your food, enjoy lunch with your colleagues. We'll have activities, lawn games, raffles, and more. Plus, pick up an herb as AthankU for Your Thyme (1 herb per staff). Although staff only receive one meal for the week, you can join the picnic activities each day.

Have you missed our AthankU for Your Thyme event? It's back! Attend our Food Truck events to pick up a complimentary potted herb. It's a "thank you" for your time and service to AU. Choose from basil, thyme, rosemary, and more.

Options are subject to availability. Limit 1 plant per staff member.

Other campus locations: Staff who place a Food Truck delivery order will receive an herb at the time of their lunch delivery.

Location: Sand Courts (near AU soccer fields behind Bender Arena)

It's back! The staff volleyball tournament with the victors taking the volleyball trophy and bragging rights for the whole year. Bring a blanket or chair and cheer for your colleagues on the sand courts!

Competing in the 2022 tournament are:

  • Facilities Raiders

The winning team will be announced upon the tournament's completion.

Get ready for a game of virtual Trivia! Teams and individuals can test their knowledge with questions ranging from AU's history to pop culture and beyond. Teams are capped at five staff members, and prizes will be awarded to the first place team/individual.

Each member on the winning team will receive a fruit basket, courtesy of AhealthyU and Kaiser Permanente. Winners will be contacted after Staff Appreciation Week to coordinate prize delivery.

Trivia is scheduled as part of StaffCon 2022, hosted by AU Staff Council.

Join us as we create a safe, virtual, and conversational space to share day-to-day experiences of diversity, equity, and inclusion as staff members at AU. We invite staff to:

  2. share their personal experiences related to D&I; and
  3. recommend and share ideas for promoting D&I with AU staff.

AU Connects will facilitate small group conversations with staff from different units as an opportunity to be in community with—and hear from—colleagues you may not see regularly. Members of the Staff Council D&I Committee will be present in each group to hear more about your ideas or concerns. Outcomes of the event will be shared as a synopsis and suggestions organizing Committee, AU Staff Council, and AU leadership.

Join AhealthyU and AU RecFit for a short yoga class that links movement and breath creating a sense of flow and release tension. We will explore a combination of yoga styles that promote increased strength, focus and flexibility.

Open to all levels. This session is the perfect afternoon pick-me-up! Mats will be available if needed, or you can bring your own yoga mat or blanket.
