Diversity Visualizations

The diversity section presents disaggregated data on race/ ethnicity, gender, pell grant receipients, and first generation students. The visualizations include (1) University Composition, (2) Undergraduate Applicant, Admission, and Enrollment trends, (3) Undergraduate Student Retention, and (4) Undergraduate Graduation Count and Rates

Racial and Gender Composition

The university composition visualization displays the racial and gender composition by degree level. The tool allows the user to examine the gender and racial makeup by school and department, in addition to new versus returning students for a particularly year. You can hover over the gender pie charts or the race/ ethnicity bar graphs to see the percent and number of students of a particular gender or race.

Undergraduate Application, Admission, and Enrollment Trends by Race

Use the tabs to explore trends in the racial composition of applicants, admitted students, and enrolled students as well as the admit and yield rates. The admit rate and yield rate tabs allow the user to filter by race. And the final tab shows applied, admitted, and enrolled students filtered by race. The trends shows the change in racial composition between 2005 and 2017. Hover over the lines for specific data on the percent, count, and year.

Undergraduate Retention

The retention and graduation rate shows the percent of an entering cohort (the group of students who enrolled at AU for the firs time in a particularly year), who are still enrolled or have graduated in a subsequent year (shown as one, two, three, and four year rates).

This visuals allows you to adjust the entering cohort and the retention and graduation rate. In addition, one can drill down by clicking on a specific race, gender, pell status, or first generation status and it will change every other category to reflect that selected group.

undergraduate Graduation per year and Cumulative Graduation Rate

This visualization shows the noncumulative and cumulative three, four, five and six year graduation rate for students by entering cohort.  There are two tabs. "Graduation per Year" shows the percent and number of students who graduate each year among different groups. The user can select which entering cohort to examine.

The "Cumulative Graduation" tab allows the user to select a three, four, five or six year cumulative graduation rate and different entering cohorts. The visual also allows the user to drill down by selecting a group that will adjust all other graduation data by subgroup to reflect the selected group.
