- Bio
- Mo Thomas is a passionate educator with a love of learning. She is the National Director of Literacy in the Curriculum and Professional Learning Department at City Teaching Alliance. She is also an adjunct faculty member at American University. Previously, she served as a Literacy Clinical Faculty member at Johns Hopkins. Mo is dedicated to fostering a liberatory approach to teaching and learning that will transform literacy education. Her research interests are culturally responsive teaching and learning, Black knowledge and literacy traditions, and educator preparation. With almost 25 years, Mo’s commitment to teaching is evident in her roles as a teacher, reading specialist, coach, consultant, curriculum developer, and program designer, all aimed at creating socially just educational experiences. She holds a BA in Communication and Journalism from North Carolina State University, an M.Ed in the Reading Specialist Program from Liberty University, and is pursuing her doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction in Urban Education at the University of Pittsburgh.
