Better preparing students for a career in environmental policy.
The Environmental Careers Network (ECN) was launched in spring 2018 to help SPA graduate students learn about environmental policy work from career professionals. Developed by a partnership between SPA's Center for Environmental Policy and AU's Career Center, the network provides an opportunity for students to meet environmental professionals from outside of academia for informational interviews. Self-directed students may use this program to learn about career opportunities, improve their interview skills, and receive feedback on their resumes.
Most professionals participating in ECN currently work with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). SPA graduate students are encouraged to select who they would like to meet based on the profiles posted on this site, and work with through the program, which includes the following:
- In-person meetings with selected professional.
- Informal coaching and preparation for informational interviews.
- A visit to EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C.
- Potential networking opportunities at the nation's leading environmental agencies and organizations
If you would like to meet one of ECN's environmental professionals, or learn more about the Environmental Careers Network, please email SPA Executive in Residence, John Reeder at email@example.com or AU Graduate Assistant, Candra Reeves at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please use the subject line ECN.
