The AU MSOD Program proudly offers all MSOD students the opportunity to work with a professional coach. This coaching offer consists of six (6) hours of MSOD-funded coaching with an emphasis on helping you succeed.
Coaching is a frequent practice for leaders and professionals in corporate, government, education and nonprofit organizations. Engaging in your own coaching experience is a wonderful way to deepen your understanding of coaching practices, goals and ethics, while potentially making useful changes in your relationships, practices or thinking.
Unlike traditional academic programs, the AU MSOD Program involves significant experiential learning with an intentional focus on Use of Self in professional practice. Your coaching experience provides an opportunity for very personal, experiential learning that can enhance your Use of Self.
Coaching supports students in applying newly gained skills as OD practitioners and helps students develop in the following ways:
- Increases your ability to maintain and balance your academic workload with your work and personal life.
- Increases your self-awareness and understanding of your role within the cohort and beyond.
- Helps you achieve academic, personal, and professional goals.
- Provides an opportunity to see first-hand how coaches operate and to gain experience in being coached by a professional.
All MSOD coaches are well-trained and experienced in leadership and professional coaching. Working with your coach, you will examine your present situations, set goals for the future, and create practices to help you achieve your goals. Your coach will support you in your successful completion of the program and in your learning and growth along the way.
