WCL Pro Bono Honors Pledge Program
The WCL Pro Bono Honors Pledge program recognizes the voluntary, uncompensated work undertaken by WCL students while at the law school on behalf of low-income and underrepresented populations or for the public good. The program is designed to encourage students to continue engaging in pro bono service throughout their careers. Students who take the pledge commit to completing a minimum of 75 hours of pro bono and community service projects.
Our students complete over 10,000 hours of pro bono work annually at organizations around DC and across the country. From collecting data from wrongful convictions, to assisting at tenant clinics, and completing asylum applications, WCL students have helped clients unable to afford legal representation on a wide variety of matter. Our partner organizations have included:
D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center Immigration Legal Advice & Referral Clinic
Mid Atlantic Innocence Project
Florida Immigration Coalition
Inter-American Institute on Justice and Sustainability
Queens County Supreme Court
Bet Tzedek Legal Services
The DC US Attorney's Office
Forsyth County Public Defender's Office
Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Program
MCASA Sexual Assault Legal Institute (SALI)
The American Civil Liberties Union
CASA for Children of DC
Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless
The Amica Center
