SES Leaders

Participants in the SES Leader Program hone their relational skills and thinking capacity to mentor and develop others and increase employee engagement. This sequential, six-course program is designed based on the Office of Personnel Management Executive Core Qualifications (ECQs) and provides participants with ideas, techniques, experiential exercises, and contemplative reflections to apply those competencies directly to the challenges they face in the workplace. Executive Coaching

Students in the American University EmL, NL, EL, and SES programs also have the option of participating in the executive coaching program to further enhance their leadership skills. Students may choose one of three coaching options.

Emerging & New Leaders offering:

Option 1 (2-hour debrief) for $1,500:
This coaching option includes a 360-assessment, namely the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory (ESCI), which is administered on a third-party website by Key's vendor, the Korn Ferry Group. Included with the assessment is a two-hour debrief with a 360-certified executive coach. Participants will walk away from their coaching session with a better understanding of how their peers, direct reports, manager(s), and others perceive them, based on feedback received and interpreted by the coach.

Option 2 (4 coaching hours) for $2,000:
In addition to the ESCI and the two-hour debrief with an executive coach, participants receive an additional two coaching hours (two sessions of one hour each). During this time, with the guidance of the coach, participants go more in-depth into their 360 results and work on a Personal Leadership Development Plan (PLDP).

Experienced Leaders offering:

Option 1 & 2 + Option 3 (6 coaching hours) for $3,000:
In addition to the ESCI and the two-hour debrief with an executive coach, participants receive an additional four coaching hours (usually divided into four one-hour sessions). They also complete a PLDP and explore more opportunities for personal and professional development.

SES offering:

An Executive Coach uses Leadership Circle Profile (LCP) results to enhance a student's potential to create higher engagement, personal development, and performance for themselves and others — the core qualities needed of today's change-adept leaders — through the creation of a Personal Leadership Development Plan (PLDP) that is regularly updated. The coach's role is to engage the participant in a dialogue that leads the senior leader to self-discovery, empowerment, and choice, so that they are more able to contribute to their organization and find meaning in their vocation.

Option 1 (2-hour debrief) for $1,500:
This coaching option includes a 360-assessment, namely the LCP, which is administered on a third-party website by Key's vendor, The Leadership Circle.

In addition to the LCP and the two-hour debrief with an executive coach, participants receive an additional two coaching hours, usually split into two one-hour sessions. During this time, with the guidance of the coach, participants go more in-depth into their 360 results and work on a PLDP.

Option 3 (6 coaching hours) for $3,000:
In addition to the LCP and the two-hour debrief with an executive coach, participants receive an additional four coaching hours (usually divided into four one-hour sessions). They also complete a PLDP and explore more opportunities for personal and professional development.
