Accelerate Your Path to an Education Career Combined Bachelor’s and Master's Degree at the Baker School of Education

Student standing in class

Double Eagle Bachelor’s/Master’s Combined Degree gives advanced AU undergraduates the opportunity to begin an on-campus Baker master’s degree while completing their bachelor’s. The graduate courses you take as an undergrad count toward both degrees, so you finish your master’s sooner and pay less for it. Students in any AU bachelor’s program are welcome to apply.

Potential Benefits

  • Get a head start on your master's. Take up to three graduate classes (9 credits) as an undergrad, and they count toward both your bachelor's and your master's. Talk to your academic advisor early to plan which ones.
  • Those classes are included in your undergrad tuition. When you start your master's, you only pay for the classes you have left. For example, if your master's is 30 credits and you've already finished 9, you only pay for 21.
  • Your total savings: at least 30% of your master's tuition. Even if you take fewer than three graduate classes as an undergrad, we'll make sure your overall savings add up to 30%.
  • Finish your master's sooner. Starting graduate classes as an undergrad shortens the time it takes to earn both degrees.
  • Earn an advanced degree from the #1 ranked Baker School of Education in Washington, DC.
  • Fit grad school around your schedule. Graduate courses meet in the evening, so you can work or intern during the day.

Program Details

  • Undergraduates may apply up to 9 credit hours of approved graduate-level coursework toward both their bachelor’s and master’s degree requirements.
  • Shared credits vary depending on your major, minor, and master’s program.
  • A minimum of 18 credit hours of graduate coursework must be completed in residence after your bachelor’s degree is awarded.
  • Interested students should meet with their undergraduate academic advisor and are encouraged to meet with a career advisor or the graduate advisor for their master’s program of interest.
