8 Bender Library
The library is more than books (thought it boasts millions of them).
In 1979, AU turned a new page when it opened a new library: the Jack I. and Dorothy G. Bender Library and Learning Resources Center. It is named for the parents of Washington business leader, Howard Bender, whose wife, Sondra Bender, was a member of the AU Board of Trustees from 1982–2002. The library leads the creation and use of credible, equitable, accessible information that empowers people to generate knowledge and enact positive change.
