Making an Appointment
To schedule a medical appointment, schedule online, call 202.885.3380, or visit us in McCabe Hall. Scheduling your appointment online allows you to view all available appointments and enables you to make the appointment anytime during the day and whenever you are unable to contact the Center after hours or over the weekend.
When Scheduling an Appointment, Remember:
You will need to provide your AU ID number.
Specify what type of appointment you need. Physical exams, annual GYN
exams, and psychiatric appointments are scheduled for different lengths
than routine and follow-up visits.
If there is a particular medical provider you prefer seeing at the Center, mention his or her name.
When scheduling a follow-up visit, you should make an appointment with the same SHC provider from your initial visit. You can also specify if you would like to see a male or female provider.
Know your class/work/internship schedule so you can schedule a time that is convenient for your schedule.
When Coming to an Appointment, Remember:
Arrive 15 minutes early.
Must have any necessary forms filled out on the online scheduling portal before arriving to your scheduled appointment. On the portal, click under "My Forms", any necessary form that needs to be filled out for your appointment will be in this area.
Identification - If you don't bring your AU ID card, we'll require another form of photo identification.
Cancellation - We want to make sure that every student who needs to see a medical provider has the opportunity to do so. If you cannot make your scheduled appointment, you need to cancel the appointment at least 2 hours ahead of the appointment time. This will open up an appointment for your fellow students. Please be aware that any student who does not cancel their appointment 2 hours ahead of time will be charged a no-show fee of $20.
Insurance Information - You should bring your current insurance card to the SHC for every visit, even if you're on the AU plan. Although you may be coming to the health center for a routine visit, your provider may order lab work that requires your insurance information.
Medical History Information - When you arrive for your first appointment, you'll be asked to complete a medical history form that collects detailed information to help us better serve you. The form can be downloaded and filled out in advance in case you're unsure about your medical history and have questions for your parent or guardian. If you complete the medical history form in advance, please make sure you bring it with you so you don't have to fill out a new one.
Payment* - There are fees for services at the Student Health Center. Be sure to review the fee schedule before your first visit. If you have any questions about the fee schedule, feel free to contact us.
*Please bring a form of payment with you at the time of your visit. The Center accepts cash, checks, Visa, MasterCard, or EagleBuck$ as forms of payment. Unfortunately, we cannot bill your student account for Student Health Center fees. Immunizations require pre-payment before they're administered.
