Please join AU SOC for an evening with Dr. Larisa Kingston Mann. Dr. Kingston Mann is an Assistant Professor in Media Studies and Production at Temple University. She researches the intersection between popular culture, law and technology, with a focus on the conditions that allow marginalized communities to create moments of intimacy, solidarity, autonomy and sovereignty. Join Students for Change, AU PRIDE, and KPU for a conversation with Sarah McBride. Former AU SPA student, McBride, held many positions on AU's campus and came out as transgender her senior year. Upstream, Downriver features community activists on the frontlines fighting for water justice and equity. Their powerful stories are interwoven with historical context about the successes and failures of the Clean Water Act. This DCEFF screening event panel features filmmaker and Director of CEF Maggie Burnette Stogner and MFA graduate student Marissa Woods, Patuxent Riverkeeper Fred Tutman, and EarthJustice water attorney Julian Gonzalez. The Visions Awards are the Film Division’s prestige awards ceremony, showcasing the best film and media work from American University students for over 40 years. This year the event will be held in McKinley's Doyle-Forman Theater on March 28th at 8pm. This on-campus event will be limited to American University students, staff and faculty. However, the event will also be livestreamed. We will send the livestream link to anyone who has registered. RSVP Here

SOC's McKinley building offers a host of event spaces available for rent, ranging from classrooms to a 144 seat theater with 4k projector.
