What was the most valuable thing you learned from WeLead?
The most powerful lesson from WeLead was discovering that empowerment comes from stepping into a community of diverse, passionate women who are determined to make change. Whether it was through a session that highlighted the critical importance of local elections—reminding us that everyday impact starts at the state and community levels—or watching peers fearlessly run for office and win, I learned that every role counts. This experience helped me realize that political aspirations aren’t just lofty dreams; they are achievable goals when you champion yourself and tap into the collective wisdom around you.
What was your favorite part of the program?
I found that the interactive and sometimes unexpected challenges were the highlights of the program. Initially, the fundraising challenge felt daunting—the thought of asking for support pushed me out of my comfort zone. Yet, as I fully engaged with it, I discovered a rewarding process: not only did I learn about the strength of my network, but I also witnessed firsthand how stepping into discomfort can reveal resilience and open up new opportunities. Equally memorable was the final celebration session, where sharing our future plans and successes brought a sense of unity and excitement that has stayed with me.
What advice would you give to the current WeLead class?
Enter the program with an open mind and a willingness to push beyond what you think you’re capable of. Be present, be curious, and most importantly, lean into every opportunity to connect with the women around you. Your classmates, mentors, and alumnae form a dynamic network that can support your professional journey—whether that means encouraging you to run for office, connecting you to career opportunities, or simply reinforcing that you’re not alone in your aspirations.
Any other thoughts on your WeLead experience?
Reflecting on my time in WeLead, I am struck by its dual power: it nurtures both personal and professional growth. The intentional mix of practical political knowledge with personal development not only empowered me to dream big but also gave me the tools to act boldly.
