Megan Whittemore, Head of External Affairs, Corning Incorporated 

Megan Whittemore is an experienced communications executive, seasoned storyteller, and strategic advisor with over 15 years of experience successfully shaping public policy and communicating complex issues. She is currently Head of External Affairs for Corning Incorporated where she leads global media relations, crisis communications, sustainability, and emerging business communications. She previously served as a U.S. Senate Chief of Staff, House Leadership spokeswoman, and national TV news producer.

Whittemore has successfully built and led high-performing teams with a strong reputation of getting results. She has helped principals, executives, and elected officials advance their policy positions, manage their reputations, and navigate the increasingly dynamic political and media landscapes. During her over decade in public service, she played a key role in advancing major bipartisan legislation.

Whittemore started her career in public service as Press Secretary for the House Majority Leader, and brings extensive broadcast media experience having covered national politics for Fox News Channel. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her leadership receiving GW’s Alumni Achievement Award in 2019, selected as President of the bipartisan Senate Press Secretaries Association (SPSA) in 2018, and featured on the “Rising PR Stars 30 and Under” list by PR News in 2013.

A New Jersey native, Whittemore earned degrees from The George Washington University School of Media & Public Affairs and Graduate School of Political Management, where she has served as an Adjunct Professor.
