Immerse yourself in the American University undergraduate experience.

Visiting our Admissions Welcome Center is your opportunity to learn more about American University (AU). From the classroom, campus life, internships, and study abroad, you will see how we use inquiry, discovery, and knowledge to serve the greater good. You'll participate in an information session presented by one of our admissions professionals.

Admissions Welcome Center Hours

Monday through Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Select Saturdays in the fall and spring: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Reservations are required.

The Welcome Center will be closed the following dates:

  • Saturday, March 9
  • Saturday, March 16
  • Friday, April 12
  • Monday, May 27, Memorial Day
  • Wednesday, June 19, Juneteenth
  • Thursday, July 4, Independence Day

Scheduling Your Visit

To ensure you have a personalized, engaging experience, space is limited for our tours and information sessions. As such, we ask that you register in advance of your visit.

You can register using the calendar below or emailing admissions@american.edu. When registering via email, please provide student's name, home address, number of guests, and preferred date of visit. Please note that registration is done on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will do our best to accommodate your preferred date and time.

To request accommodations for persons with disabilities, please call 202-885-6060 at least two weeks in advance of your scheduled visit.

Planning for Summer 2024

We're excited for you to visit us this coming summer. Registration for May through August will open no later than end of March. For planning purposes, the campus visit options are offered Monday through Friday, 9 am - 5pm.

Location and Parking

The Admissions Welcome Center is on the second floor of the Katzen Arts Center, located at 4400 Massachusetts Avenue, NW. For your convenience, underground parking is available on the P1 garage level. When you arrive, simply take the elevator to the second floor and follow the signs to the Admissions Welcome Center. Visitors who register for a campus visit in advance, will receive information about parking in their confirmation emails. The confirmation email will include our guest code for complimentary parking and instructions on how to enter that code in the pay stations.
