The Department of World Languages and Cultures offers American Sign Language (ASL) courses designed to develop students' expressive and receptive signing skills while fostering an understanding of Deaf culture and community. Through interactive classroom activities, students build basic conversational skills in ASL and explore the language's linguistic foundations alongside the cultural and social aspects of the Deaf community.

ASL I introduces students to the fundamentals of American Sign Language and Deaf culture, while ASL II builds on these skills by expanding students' vocabulary, conversational ability, and understanding of ASL grammar and cultural perspectives. No prior knowledge of ASL is required for ASL I.
