Russian Language Study

The Russian Faculty offers a variety of courses focusing on the Russian language and culture. The World Languages and Cultures Department offers courses ranging from Elementary Russian to Topics courses as well as several major and minor programs. Our major programs include: Russian Studies, which focuses on language and culture integrating topics from around the Russian-speaking world; Russian/Area Studies, which is an interdisciplinary program integrating Russian studies courses as well as area studies courses from other AU Departments; Foreign Language and Communication, which is also an interdisciplinary program incorporating courses in both WLC and the School of Communication; and Business, Language and Culture studies which is an interdisciplinary program incorporating courses in both WLC and Kogod School of Business. Minor Programs include both Russian Language and Russian/Area Studies. Additionally, the Department offers Certificates in Russian Translation which can be incorporated in our majors or taken separately.
