Hot Work
"Hot work" means riveting, welding, flame cutting or other fire or spark-producing operation. Employees conducting such work at AU must take precautions to prevent fires; this involves securing a "Hot Work Permit."
- Contact Rima Sifri or Matthew Verderosa at least 72 hours before hot work will commence.
- Conduct a walkthrough of the work space with Rima or Matthew to develop emergency contacts, safety precautions, and monitoring. Document in a permit.
- Conduct the hot work according to the provisions of the permit.
You may review a blank Hot Work Permit (see Resources) for reference, but please note that a permit is not valid until authorized by a member of AU Safety and Security Services.
