Notice of Availability and Location of the Annual Security Report

A document important to your safety, American University's Annual Security Report, is now available on the American University Police Department's website at, https://www.american.edu/finance/publicsafety/upload/AU-Annual-Security-Report.pdf, as required by the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).

Besides satisfying the law, our security report tells how you can help us strive for a safer and more secure environment in which to live, study, and work at AU. We encourage you—all faculty and staff members, and all graduate and undergraduate students—to familiarize yourself with this report. With your informed help we can better protect lives, secure property, and preserve peace and order.

In the report you can learn about AU’s institutional policies concerning campus security, including sexual assault and other matters, how AU educates the community about safety, and how AU gives timely warnings of emergencies or crimes considered by AU to represent a serious or continuing threat to the safety of students or employees.

The report also includes statistics for the previous three calendar years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by American University; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

Please feel free to contact us at 202-885-2527 or clerycompliance@american.edu for a paper copy of the report or more information on the programs and policies outlined in the Annual Security Report.

Thank you for your time and attention in this regard.
