How do I re-enroll at American University?

Undergraduate students who wish to re-enroll at American University (AU) after separating from the university for one semester (excluding summer sessions) or more must apply for readmission. Students who received written approval to study at another institution and students who have been granted an official leave of absence are exempt from applying for readmission.

Readmit applicants must complete the undergraduate admissions application through the Future Eagle Portal. After logging in, you'll be able to access the readmit application through the "Apply Online" tab under the "Special Program Applications" section. Applications should be received by the deadlines posted below.

Applicants should also submit:

  1. An interruption of studies statement detailing the circumstances behind leaving AU, activities or work experience since leaving AU and reasons for returning to AU.
  2. Official transcripts from each college/university attended since last enrollment at AU.

Readmission applicants are subject to all regulations and must meet all admission requirements at the time of application. Readmission applicants who have a pending disciplinary case at the University must resolve their disciplinary case before an admissions decision will be released.

If you are a veteran, please consult our academic regulations regarding Interruption of Studies as a Direct Result of Hostilities or War.
