Office of the President 4400 Massachusetts Avenue NW Washington, DC 20016-8060 United StatesDear AU Community,
Today’s Supreme Court decision on Roe v. Wade prompts numerous questions and intense debate. The decision impacts our community and their personal health decisions. As we move forward, our priority remains the health and well-being of our community. American University is reviewing the possible implications for our community members in areas such as health insurance benefits and changes in state laws. For our students, faculty, and staff, the university’s health insurance plans and benefits continue in their current form. Our Student Health Center continues to provide counseling and prescriptions for contraception methods and referrals for reproductive health services not available on campus. We will look to the District of Columbia government for guidance on how the decision impacts our AU community in DC.
As an institution of higher learning, American University scholars and experts will explore the legal, social, political, and health care outcomes of the decision and conduct important discussions both within our AU community and around the world. There will be many developments in the coming days and weeks and the university will work through the emerging issues that may affect our community members.
