From Tenleytown/AU Metro Stop:

By shuttle

AU provides a free shuttle from the Tenleytown/AU Metro stop to campus. Directions to the shuttle are posted at the Metro stop. At the Metro station, take the escalator and exit to the east, which is on your left. (Look for the sign directing you to the AU Shuttle stop.) Once at street level, the shuttle stop is just a few yards ahead at the intersection of 40th Street and Albemarle Street. The shuttle runs on a continuous loop and departs every ten minutes. You may also track the location of the shuttle online or with the Street Eagle Transit app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play. You do not need a special pass to ride the shuttle. The shuttle ride to campus takes about 5 minutes. Exit at the Kogod stop and turn left, towards the Butler Pavilion Tunnel. Continue through the tunnel; at the end, the Asbury building will be on the right. Enter through the South entrance of the Asbury building (on the left). Take the stairs up one level (to 3rd floor), and follow the hallway until you reach the elevator. A staff member will come to greet you by the bench near the elevator.

On foot

Alternatively, you can walk from the Tenleytown/AU Metro stop to campus. The walk is approximately one mile. Heading south on Wisconsin Avenue, turn right on Nebraska Avenue (at the Tenley Campus) and take it to Ward Circle. Turn right at Massachusetts Avenue and walk until you reach the entrance of American University. Take a left to walk through the front gates and follow the directions to the Asbury building from the Glover Gate.

From Glover Gate (AU Main Entrance) to Asbury Building on foot

Walk straight through Glover Gate. Continue walking straight on this road, through the Butler Pavilion tunnel. At the end of the tunnel, turn right and you will see the Asbury building ahead of you. Enter through the South entrance of Asbury Building, take the stairs up one level (to 3rd floor), and follow the hallway until you reach the elevator. A staff member will come to greet you by the bench near the elevator.

Driving to CYARD

For new clients

Prior to your first visit to CYARD, we will provide a one-time use code that will enable you to park in the Katzen Arts Center Garage (off Massachusetts Avenue, close to Ward Circle/the intersection of Nebraska Avenue). After parking, follow “Pay Here” signs to the parking payment machines. You will need to provide your license plate number and the parking code to cover the cost of parking in the garage. Please reserve two hours for the appointment using the code provided. When you exit the garage, cross the street and follow directions above from the Glover Gate.

For returning clients

From Massachusetts Avenue, drive straight through Glover Gate (on the left if coming from Ward Circle/Nebraska Avenue). Continue driving straight all the way through the Butler Pavilion tunnel. The Asbury building is to your right. If it’s after 5pm, you may park in any lot on campus free of charge. If it’s before 5pm, make a sharp right into the Sports Center Garage at the end of the Butler Pavilion tunnel. Park in any spot in the garage with the exception of spots marked for “special visitors.” Use the scratch-off parking pass provided to you at the previous appointment. Mark the day and month of your visit, and hang the pass from your rearview mirror before leaving the garage. There are two sets of elevators in the garage; take the Sports Center elevators to the 1st floor and exit the building. You will find yourself in the Butler Pavilion tunnel. Turn right and continue through the tunnel, and the Asbury building will be on the right side at the end of the tunnel. Enter through the South entrance of Asbury Building (on the left). Take the stairs up one level (to 3rd floor), and follow the hallway until you reach the elevator. A staff member will come to greet you by the bench near the elevator.

Accessibility

An accessible entrance to the Asbury Building is located behind the South Wing entrance, adjacent to a small parking lot. Enter through the automatic doors and the elevator will be to your right. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and a CYARD staff member will greet you. If you require special accommodations to access the clinic, please let us know.
